Infrastructure NSW no match for Clover Moore
This was the recommendation from Infrastructure NSW in the State Strategy and announced in a media release issued on 3rd October, 2012. However, publicity for the Light Rail alternative gathered momentum. At the Sydney Boys Meeting on 15th April, 2013, Transport Minister, Gladys Berejiklian and Lord Mayor, Clover Moore, were adamant that the CBD South-East Light Rail would proceed. The CEO of INSW, Paul Broad, and Chair, Nick Greiner, resigned 23rd May 2013. (Note the reference to Broad at loggerheads with Berejiklian.)
In the INSW media release that the Central to UNSW Light Rail is anticipated to cost $500 million and in the report INSW note that in order to deliver value for money the scope of this project would need to be carefully controlled.
